The Old Forest House in Spiegelhütte offers 3 wonderful holiday apartments, each individually designed. The apartments Fahnenriegel and Siebenschläfer have been awarded **** by the German Tourism Association (DTV) for their superior comfort. The Wildbach apartment naturally offers the same level of comfort.

Since winter 2020, we have a comfortable sauna on the property, which our guests are of course welcome to use. By prior arrangement, the sauna is exclusively available to apartment guests for 4 hours at a rental cost of €13. Sauna towels are included in this price for all users. Our mountain hut "Backwahn" also invites our guests to a cozy celebration (Please arrange the use with us in advance). A wood-fired oven has been available since summer 2021 and is passionately operated by the host for baking bread and other items that you can purchase or book with us.

Spiegelhütte belongs to the National Park municipality of Lindberg. The village is an old Bavarian Forest hamlet and, during the heyday of glass production in the Bavarian Forest, held a certain significance as a glassworks village of the Poschinger family. Furthermore, it was the base for forest workers and foresters for the area between the Großer Falkenstein and Fahnenriegel. The house is situated on the slope directly opposite the small chapel of St. Stephan (services on Fridays every two weeks). Directly from the house, wonderful hiking and biking trails lead to the two major Bavarian Forest peaks or to the beautiful Buchenau with the magnificent castle of the glass barons Poschinger. Several long-distance cycling and hiking trails (circular routes and long-distance routes such as the Trans Bayerwald or Glassteig) run directly through the village. And it is by far the quietest, most idyllic village we have ever encountered .... and yet right in the middle of everything!

Our apartments, Fahnenriegel, Wildbach, and Schindelau, are well-equipped and offer a high standard of comfort, above all providing plenty of space to relax and unwind. The private sauna in the house invites you to relax after skiing or hiking. Sufficient covered and secure parking spaces are available for mountain bikes (charging option for e-bikes). Pets are welcome upon request (maximum 2 per apartment). All 3 apartments have satellite TV with modern flat-screen televisions, radio, and of course free Wi-Fi. The large garden with its terraces, barbecue areas, and varied seating and sunbathing options is, of course, at our guests’ disposal and creates space to enjoy the unspoiled nature in good weather. Parking is naturally not a problem either. Sufficient parking spaces are available at the house. Right next to the small stream that meanders past the house is a small, public playground for children. In Lindberg, you will find not only various good Bavarian restaurants but also shops (a very good butcher and a bakery with a small store).

Getting here

Our Old Forest House is located in Lindberg, in the Spiegelhütte district. Spiegelhütte is easily accessible by car, train, and bus. If coming from the A3, take the A 92 towards Deggendorf at the Deggendorf interchange. At the end of the highway, follow the signs for Zwiesel, Bayerisch Eisenstein, Regen, via Rusel. You will always drive in the direction of Bayerisch Eisenstein, passing Zwiesel. Shortly before the village of Ludwigsthal, turn right towards Buchenau, Spiegelhütte. Follow the road until you reach Spiegelhütte in about 5km. Immediately after the village entrance sign, turn left and then right again, and you will be standing in front of the Old Forest House. By train, travel to Zwiesel. Directly at the train station, you can take the Igelbus Line 1 to Buchenau. Get off the bus at the Spiegelhütte stop. Upon arrival, you will see our beautiful Old Forest House on the slope opposite the picturesque St. Stephan chapel (about 200m).

Booking request

We forgo hidden costs, such as security deposits, electricity, water, taxes, etc. The Lindberg municipality currently levies a guest contribution of €1.50 per night, which, in addition to the rental costs, must be paid separately to us and is passed on in full to the municipality. This guest contribution enables a number of services provided by the municipality, such as free use of buses and trains in the Bavarian Forest region, as well as discounted entry to swimming pools and museums. The guest contribution will therefore not be included in the booking request.

Bed linen and towels, kitchen towels, dishwasher tabs, a carbon dioxide cylinder for the sparkling water maker, as well as a cot or high chair if required are also included in the price. Depending on the length of stay, there are costs for final cleaning and currently an energy cost surcharge. These costs will be specified in the offer.

Your pet is warmly welcome upon registration.

The booking becomes binding with a written booking confirmation from us and receipt of a deposit of 30% of the rental price in our account. Up to 60 days before arrival, cancellation is possible at any time without charge. Thereafter, the deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee. From 7 days before arrival, we unfortunately have to charge 90% of the rental price as cancellation fees if no replacement booking can be found. We recommend taking out private travel insurance.
